PS5 Demon's Souls hidden door Demons Souls

Demon’s Souls Has Omnidirectional Roll and New Character Creation Features

Demon’s Souls is just a few weeks away and there are many fans out there waiting to sink their teeth into this ambitious remake on PS5. While the game does not have the 6th Archstone, it does feature a range of new mechanics and systems which may force you to forgive Sony for not adding the world into the game. According to SIE Worldwide Studios External Development Creative Director Gavin Moore, players can look forward to new character creation features, omnidirectional rolling and more.

Speaking to GameSpot, Moore explained that in the PS5 version of Demon’s Souls, players can go omnidirectional with the roll system. This means users can roll in eight directions compared to the four from the original. Moore says the change makes a big difference to the gameplay. In addition, he says it was what people wanted.

When it comes to the camera on the PS5 version of Demon’s Souls, it won’t get stuck behind walls. The original game has a few issues with its camera system. If it was not glitching into walls, it was getting stuck on objects. However, that won’t be the case with the remake. Moore claims the camera system is completely new but players can switch to the classic clumsy version if they want to. That way the game still remains nostalgic for players who want the experience the classic.

Technical changes aside, Demon’s Souls on PS5 will also come with a load of new customization options in the character creation feature. Moore claims the new additions will allow for thousands upon thousands of new permutations when players design their character.

We’ve actually remade thousands upon thousands of new sound effects to add into our levels, and then using 3D audio on the PlayStation 5, that really comes to life. I mean, you can feel arrows go past your head. You can feel Imperial spies creep up behind you in the palace of Boletaria or creatures crawl out of the slime in the Valley of Defilement. It’s an amazing soundscape now and it really adds to the fear, the trepidation, and the challenge of the whole experience.[/perfectpullquote]

Sony put the same amount of love into the sound of the game too. Moore confirmed that Demon’s Souls on PS5 features thousands of brand new sound effects which will all take advantage of the PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech. This tech is only available on headsets at launch.

Demon’s Souls launches exclusively on PS5 on console launch day.
