Destiny 2: Into The Light

Destiny 2: Into The Light Will Add Free Game Content to Make Up For Expansion Delay

Destiny 2: Into The Light will launch on 9 April to fill the void left behind after The Final Shape was delayed to mid-2024. The content is described as “free for all players” and will hopefully keep you busy while you wait for The Final Shape to launch in June.

The final expansion to Destiny 2 The Light and Darkness Saga was delayed last year after Bungie was hit by major layoffs at the studio. Bungie claimed the studio required more time to get the content ready for players and pushed the release date from March to 4 June.

However, the delay meant that its seasonal content roadmap, which was expected to end in March right before the expansion’s launch, would now be extended to June. Bungie had to scurry around to create content in order to fill this gap. Destiny 2: Into The Light is that content.

Little is known about the content at this point. Bungie will unveil it in the coming weeks across three streams. The first kicks off on 19 March followed by another on 26 March and 2 April. The stream will also include various changes and features coming to Destiny 2. However, we don’t know if these changes are planned for the expansion or this content drop.

Bungie says across the three streams, the studio will tackle the following information:

  • Destiny 2: Into the Light begins on April 9…
  • …And we’ll show you all about it in three livestreams
  • Plans for further Weapon Enhancing
  • Guardian Games All-Stars progress
  • Fantastic new wallpapers
  • Fireteam Finder in your phone!
  • Player Support Report
  • Our Artist and Movie of the Week picks

Destiny 2: Into the Light will deliver new game content, available for all players, throughout the months of April and May in preparation for the launch of The Final Shape in June. And what types of content, you might ask? Well, we will share more information about that very soon…

If you’re still playing Destiny 2, or perhaps looking for a reason to get back into the game, be sure to tune into these streams in the weeks ahead on Twitch.
