Last night during the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep expansion announcement, Bungie revealed a lot more coming to the shooter than everyone thought. With Activision away from the project, Bungie can now do whatever they want and they are doing just that.
When Destiny 2: Shadowkeep releases on 17 Septemeber 2019, players will head back to the Moon to explore a horrific alien citadel which is twice as big as the Moon on the first game. The expansion will bring with it new content like a Raid, strikes, weapons and much more.

The most important new details come with the Destiny: New Light announcement. A free-to-play version of the game that includes all of year one missions, activities and rewards. It is the base game that released back in 2017 but free for everyone with no limitations. You will be able to play PvP and even complete the Leviathan Raids.

As for Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. This is a standalone expansion of the game. You won’t need previous expansions to access Shadowkeep and Bungie will sell future smaller DLCs separately too. If you do own the game, you will just need to buy Shadowkeep already.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will feature a new raid that takes place in the Black Garden, a revamped armour system focusing more on an MMO experience than ever before and no more exclusive gear divided by platforms.
Bungie also announced cross-save support for the game coming to all platforms. You will be able to seamlessly play on PC, Google Stadia, PS4 and Xbox One and pick up where you left off on another platform.
Lastly, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will be removed off the Blizzard Launcher in the coming months and released on Steam instead. The game will include all of the past Destiny 2 content including the base game and Forsaken. There will also be no annual pass as you can purchase the smaller DLC packs as you want.
