Today is a big day for Destiny 2 fans as Bungie is gearing up to announce the next expansion in the series, Lightfall as well as what’s coming to the game in Season 18. But like most good things on the internet, the leaks are everywhere and it is hard to ignore all the exciting news coming our way. As expected, Destiny 2 Lightfall will come with a new subclass referred to as Strand. The class is reportedly a poison “green” sub-class and each class will utilize it in a unique way.
According to a new leaked set of images, the Hunter class uses Strand in a grappling-hook-like manner.. The Warlock can conjure Strand as a floating companion around him and the Titan class wields Strand as giant gauntlets on their arms.

The image also shows off the new City of Neptune which is described as a futuristic tech world with sprawling skyscrapers and buildings. This would be the first time Destiny 2 has visited a functional city.
Another leaked image confirms that Osiris will return to Destiny 2 in Lightfall alongside a new high-tech version of Calus. There’s also two new characters in the leaked cover photo. The one in the middle is reportedly The Witness while the other is referred to as Nezarec.
As previously reported, Destiny 2 Lightfall will focus on Calus and The Witness as they try and get hold of an item called Veil. This item is in Neptune and protected by a new species of alien. Calus needs this item to help return The Witness back into its original form. The story will introduce new characters, weapons, new supers and a new raid that takes place on the Traveller itself.
Everything described so far is related to Destiny 2 Lightfall but what about Season 18? Well, after the stream tonight Bungie will add Destiny 2: Season of The Plunder to the game. The season is based on space pirates and will see players fight the Fallen for loot. Season of The Plunder will see the return of Eramis, Kell of Darkness who was originally introduced into the game during Destiny 2: Beyond Light.
Of course, the Season 18 content also ties into the expansion and will follow a new weekly quest as we approach Season 19 and ultimately, Lightfall. Destiny 2: Season of the Plunder will feature two different types of story missions and two new activities. There’s Ketchcrash, No Quarter, Expedition and Hideouts. Bungie will also release the Destiny 2 King’s Fall Raid this weekend on 26 August as part of the legacy content drop.
Bungie is also expected to announce a Fortnite crossover event with Destiny 2 alongside an Epic Games collaboration. This will include exclusive emblems you can unlock by linking your Epic Games account to your Bungie account, free DLC content and more.
You can tune into the full Destiny 2 showcase event kicking off at 18:00 tonight. The stream will be live across YouTube and Twitch.
