Blizzard fans have been asking for a remaster or remake of the best Diablo game in the series. Blizzard shot down hopes for a remaster when they suggested the game might be difficult to create. In addition, the developer claimed the assets to the game were lost. However, according to new rumours, a Diablo 2 Remaster could be arriving later this year.
Rumours claim Vicarious Visions, a studio under Activision is working on a remaster. Vicarious Visions is known for their work on Destiny 2 and Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy. While there are no details about the remaster yet, French site Actugaming, who also accurately reported on Overwatch 2, Diablo 4 and Shadowlands before the reveal, claim the game is arriving later this year.
According to a source close to the site, Diablo 2 Remastered will release in late 2020. The game will be announced at BlizzCon later this year as a surprise reveal. However, Blizzard may reveal the game sooner at another scheduled event like the Summer Game fest.
Blizzard’s last Warcraft 3 Reforges did not go down well. The game’s design was lacklustre and it felt as if the developer did nothing to deliver on the original promise. Let’s hope this rumoured Diablo 2 Remastered does a better job bringing the classic RPG back to life.
