Diablo 4 Gets Official ‘The Story So Far’ Trailer Recapping The Game

Blizzard Entertainment has released a new trailer titled ‘The Story So Far’ for Diablo 4, recapping all the major events of the game in under 4 minutes. If you’d like to watch the recap of the story, be warned that it contains plenty of major spoilers leading up to the game’s climax and resolution. This article will also go over light spoilers but we’ll avoid mentioning what’s shown in the trailer.

Diablo 4 is set 50 years after the events of Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls. With the Lord of Terror vanquished and sealed away, Lilith, the daughter of the Prime Evil Mephisto, rises again to reclaim Sanctuary and its inhabitants as her domain and rebel against the forces of the High Heavens. Players assume the role of “the Wanderer”, who can be customised and assigned one of six classes: Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Sorcerer, Rogue and the new class, Spiritborn.

Blizzard Entertainment provided a more detailed breakdown of the story:

“Discover the critically acclaimed franchise that defined the Action RPG genre. As the battle between the High Heavens and Burning Hells rages on, hatred devours Sanctuary as evil spreads and a new wave of cultists and worshippers arise to embrace Lilith’s coming. Only a brave few dare to face this threat and bring light to the all-consuming darkness.”

Diablo 4 launched last year to positive reviews and strong sales, hitting over 10 million players during its launch month and earning a fitting $666 million in revenue. However, the game has since been marred by controversies and changes to the game in post-launch updates, leading to boycotts during season 1, especially for the season’s battle pass which the game (intentionally or unintentionally) didn’t reward enough currency at the time for players to purchase the next battle pass. The rabbit hole goes deeper, so you can catch up with its rocky post-launch journey right here.

Diablo 4 is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Watch ‘The Story So Far’ trailer below:
