Diablo 4 Hit 10 Million Players During Its Launch Month

Blizzard Entertainment has revealed that its latest action-RPG, Diablo 4, managed to break the company’s quarterly records by amassing 10 million players during its launch month alone. The publisher previously stated that Diablo 4 was its fastest-selling game of all time, managing to earn $666 million in its first five days of release. While we still don’t know the exact sales numbers, Blizzard has given us a good indication of how many copies it pushed in one month.

Activision Blizzard’s latest quarterly earnings reports reveal that Diablo 4 hit 10 million players in its opening month. If we’re to assume that Diablo 4 managed to sell 10 million copies, it would put it behind Hogwarts Legacy and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as one of the best-selling games of 2023 so far. Hogwarts Legacy achieved a monumental 12 million copies sold in just two weeks of release.

Diablo 4 was also responsible for Blizzard Entertainment having a 160% revenue growth year-over-year. The company revealed that Diablo 4‘s release also saw a rise in other Diablo titles as players flocked to Diablo 2: Resurrected, Diablo 3 and specifically Diablo Immortal as well.

In related news, Blizzard has announced that it will begin adding a selection of its games to Steam starting with Overwatch 2 this August. Players will still require a Battle.net account to sign in and access the games, though. It’s possible that given the enormous success of Diablo 4, it will be the next game to be added to Steam in the near future.

Diablo 4 managed to top the PS5 download charts for June 2023 alongside Final Fantasy XVI. However, Blizzard has reiterated that it has no intentions of adding the game to Xbox Game Pass anytime soon, even if Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard goes through without a hitch later this year.

Diablo 4 is currently available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
