Diablo 4 Player Gets Mass Reported for Having ‘Satan’ in Username

In one of the strangest twists of irony, a Diablo 4 player has been mass reported for having the word ‘Satan’ in their username. As most players are already aware, the name ‘Diablo’ is Spanish for Devil, so it’s rather unfortunate that nobody got the memo on this translation before reporting a player trying to thematically stick to the game’s diabolical premise.

A recent Reddit thread by user JonBonSpumoni started getting traction on the Diablo 4 subreddit after the player revealed that they had been reported over 11 times for their chosen username: HailSatan. Commenters quickly pointed out the irony of it all and even blasted Blizzard Entertainment for hypocritically promoting the game on Twitter/X using the hashtag #HailLilith. “Someone names their character JesusSaves; nobody gives a shit,” wrote one user. “HailSatan gets banned? This is some anti-religious nonsense.”

“Imagine being highly religious and afraid of demonic worship but you play a game centred around demons,” wrote another Reddit user. “Well I suppose the argument there could be that it’s a good Christian game because the mighty Christian hero is fighting for God to kill the devil.”

According to some replies in the comment section, this is seemingly an automated response from Blizzard. Players can contest these reports by contacting Blizzard’s online chat support to revert any changes. Either way, most players have pointed out how bizarre the situation is and how there might be some double-standards at play.

In related news, Diablo 4 recently launched its second season, titled Season of Blood, to mostly positive feedback from the community. Just in time for spooky season, Call of Duty Warzone is giving players a chance to unlock a Diablo 4-themed Butcher item too.

Diablo 4 is currently available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
