Diablo IV Overwatch 2 Indefinitely Delayed Activision Blizzard

Diablo 4 Release Date News Reportedly Set for The Game Awards

Some big news surrounding Diablo 4 is reportedly planned for The Game Awards including pre-order details. This follows a previous report that early impressions from select media outlets were expected before the show this week. Insider Gaming reports that this is still happening on 7 December, but Blizzard Entertainment has urged media to tune into The Game Awards on 8 December for some big announcements – which many fans believe is a release date reveal.

The latest report claims that Rod Fergusson, who oversees development on the Diablo series, told media to watch The Game Awards on 8 December for more announcements. Over 100 media outlets apparently got to see a behind-the-scenes presentation of Diablo 4 and get some hands-on time with it as well. The embargo for those articles reportedly drop on 7 December.

The evidence has been building up elsewhere as well. Windows Central’s Jez Corden reported last month that Blizzard is planning to release Diablo 4 in April 2023. However, Corden amended this claim by stating that April might be a target/launch window with an 8-week variance. Those who pre-order will apparently receive early access to the open beta. Corden also mentioned a collector’s edition which might contain a candle of some kind.

Additionally, a leaked Activision Blizzard document from earlier this year revealed that pre-orders for the game would be made available at The Game Awards. At this point, it’s almost certain that we’ll get a release date and the first half of next year seems very likely.

As with all rumours and leaks, take this with a pinch of salt. With all the reports going around, it’s hard to tell what Blizzard is actually planning for Diablo 4 right now since the game has been in development for several years. If new information and announcements are being planned for this week, then we won’t have to wait too long for all of this to be clarified.

Diablo 4 is currently in development for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
