Diablo 4 New Story Content 3 Months Blizzard

Diablo 4 Will Get New Story Content Every 3 Months

Blizzard Entertainment says Diablo 4 will receive new story content as well as additional mechanics and features every 3 months via quarterly updates. The developer didn’t state exactly how significant these story updates will be so we might have to wait for bigger expansions to get meatier slices of the narrative. Interestingly, Blizzard is avoiding using the word “expansion” to describe these updates but the promised content seems to suggest we might be getting big additions to the game every annual quarter.

In Game Informer’s latest cover story on Diablo 4, associate game director Joe Piepiora spoke about the post-launch plans for the action-RPG and what fans can expect to get in terms of new, evolving content (be it free or premium). Additional story content will be added every 3 months that will be tied to mechanics and features with each update. By the sounds of things, these story updates could add smaller quests to the game while major quests might be saved for larger expansions down the road.

Blizzard also recently broke down the endgame content for Diablo 4 which features plenty of activities to do once you beat the main campaign. However, Piepiora also clarified that several Helltides can spawn in the world at once and will persist for a limited time. Tougher enemies can spawn via Helltides including harder variations of bosses, but players can reap massive rewards from these dangerous zones if they complete them.

As far as the quarterly story updates go, these will usually be accompanied with a new seasonal battle pass that players will have to unlock, though it’s unclear if some will be free or will require you to pay for them. Blizzard also confirmed that the first season will not go live immediately at launch and might come at a later stage.

Diablo 4 launches on 6 June 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Have a look at the global launch schedule, dates and times for the game right here.
