Just a few days after the announcement of Apple Arcade, Apple’s video game subscription service, Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Diablo: Immortal will be headed to Apple’s platforms later this year. The Diablo: Immortal video game will also be re-titled as Diablo IV to realign the upcoming video game as the next instalment in the Diablo series.

Thank you to everyone that had a good laugh and fell for our April Fools joke. Yes, it was a Joke. Diablo: Immortal is not Diablo 4 and it is not coming to Apple Arcade only. We wish we could say that Diablo: Immortal being a mobile game is a joke, but we cannot. We all know the truth here
This is not the first time we are seeing Diablo being announced for non-PC and console platforms as the original Diablo: Immortal that was announced back in 2018 was originally meant to be a smartphone-exclusive experience. Diablo 4 will, however, be exclusive to Apple Arcade meaning you will be able to play this on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV only. So technically the game is coming to PC, in a way (not really).
After the backlash of the Diablo: Immortal announcement, Blizzard Entertainment plans to rectify the issue. Addressing the public at their headquarters in Irvine, California, a representative announced Diablo 4 as a renamed version of Diablo: Immortal to be released “soon” for the Apple Arcade devices only.
We’ve listened to fan feedback and after careful deliberation, we know exactly what to do. We stand behind the idea of the mobile only version of Diablo but we also know that gamers want Diablo 4 more than anything, so why not have both at the same time. Therefore, after some careful iterations, we will be renaming Diablo: Immortal to Diablo 4. To cover growing costs of the name change, the game will not be free-to-play.
Clearly, the only reason fans didn’t love our Diablo: Immortal announcement at BlizzCon 2018 was that not everyone had a mobile phone. We’ve heard you loud and clear and with the release of Diablo 4 on Apple Arcade, we can now release the game on more plaforms inlcuding Apple TV and Mac.
Diablo 4 will support iPhone 6S and up, Apple TV 4K only and iPad Pro.
It all makes sense now as those job listings hinted that Diablo 4 is in development. The developer also promised that we would hear more about their Diablo projects this year but instead of announcing this amazing news at BlizzCon 2019, they decided to announce the game on 1 April 2019 to give everyone enough time to either purchase a mobile device or save up for their bundled package.
