If you were looking forward to slaying demons on your mobile device then sorry bout it. Diablo Immortal has been delayed all the way into 2022. Blizzard has announced that the anticipated mobile version of its action RPG series won’t make its expected 2021 release. The news arrives after the game’s recent alpha test where Blizzard gathered information and feedback regarding the game.
The Diablo Immortal development team says that the game is expected to release in the first half of 2022. In addition, they are tweaking the overall experience while also adding in new features and gameplay elements.

For starters, Diablo Immortal will support controllers. In the announcement, Blizzard says they are working on adding controller support to Diablo Immortal. This includes DualSense, DualShock, Xbox and other third-party devices. The development team hopes to have this feature ready for the beta test which is expected to arrive in the coming months.
Other new features and gameplay elements include PvE-centric Raids in the Helliquary system. Blizzard says these Helliquary Bosses are now designed as a challenge for 8-player teams to overcome. There are also new bounty tweaks that Blizzard says will make the system more engaging.
The full delay announcement reads:
Following feedback provided by test participants of the Closed Alpha, our team has been tuning core and endgame features. For example, we’re iterating on PvP content like the Cycle of Strife to make it more accessible, alongside late-game PvE content like the Helliquary to make it more engaging.
We’re also working to provide controller support for those who want to play our game in a different way. However, these changes and additional opportunities to improve our gameplay experience will not be realized in the 2021 timeframe we had previously communicated. So, the game is now planned for release in the first half of 2022, which will allow us to add substantial improvements to the whole game.
