DICE Confirms Battlefield Reveal Soon Along With Mobile Game Announcement

For the first time this year, DICE has confirmed that players will soon see a Battlefield reveal. In a recent blog post, the developer touched on the happenings at the studio while confirming that the new Battlefield game currently has the biggest development team ever working on the project.

The blog post confirms that 2021 will be the year that players get to see a new Battlefield game that returns to the classic “all-out warfare”. While the developers did not share the exact launch platforms for the game, they confirmed that it will arrive on PC and consoles. Whether or not it will release on PS4 and Xbox One is still unconfirmed. However, recent reports seem to suggest the title will skip last-gen hardware.

At the moment, DICE says the game is currently in playtesting which is a great sign. The developer says the new Battlefield is a bold step in a new direction while including everything we love about the series.

Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.

The new Battlefield game is a joint venture between Criterion and DICE LA who are working on the gameplay while the DICE Gothenburg team are advancing the game’s engine and technology to deliver a “jaw-dropping” experience. Lastly, DICE confirmed that Battlefield will be revealed soon and will launch later this year.

In another announcement, DICE announced a Battlefield mobile game coming in 2022. This standalone game is completely different to the project in development for PC and consoles. It is being built from the ground up by iToys to deliver a Battlefield-on-the-go experience. DICE says players can expect a fully-fledged skill-based game but we don’t know if this will be a PvP team-based shooter or yet another battle royale mobile game. Let’s hope not.

This is all good news for Battlefield fans. Now we just wait to see something come out of it all.
