It was bound to happen sooner or later. After multiple delays in the film and entertainment industry including the live-action Mulan, Fast and Furious, Stranger Things, and The Witcher Season 2, Disney has officially delayed the upcoming Black Widow movie for several months due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Black Widow was scheduled to release on 1 May 2020 but Disney has pulled it from the release calendar for now. The film does not have a new date at this time but we could see it roll out after July 2020. Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johannson was meant to kick off the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and planned to be the first larger film in the series after Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Disney most likely wants to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) while at the same time, release the film when people will actually go out and watch it. Until the situation calms down, especially in the United States, we won’t see any major movie releases coming our way.
However, Disney is working on improving the VOD services in the United States by releasing new blockbuster movies on Disney+ months in advance. Users will be able to enjoy films like Frozen 2 already on the service and reports claim Onward will be added too.
As for Black Widow, we doubt Disney will release it on the streaming service before its theatrical debut. We will have to just have to be patient and wait for this to calm down before enjoying new films.
