Disney is in the early planning phases for its living communities – a literal town where people can buy houses and live their daily lives. Unlike you and me who do that already, these Disney living communities will be designed around the popular brand and include resort-like features aimed to deliver the same tranquillity you would get from your stay at them. Disney is calling this project “Storyliving by Disney”.
The division in charge of these communities are also responsible for developing the company’s theme parks so expect the same lavish treatment.

So far, Disney has announced one location for the community. This 1,900 housing establishment is named Cotino and is based in the city of Rancho Mirage in California’s Coachella Valley. Walt Disney himself once lived in this area.
The concept art for Cotino reveals villas, condos, chalets and housing complexes all designed around a 24-acre “grand oasis”. This oasis will feature Disney’s Crystal Lagoon technology that the company uses to keep its “clear turquoise waters” clear in the amusement parks.
There are even kitted out malls that include shopping, dining, movies and other entertainment. Residents can also enjoy Disney programming, entertainment and activities across a range of themed buildings in the town and even the beachfront.
Disney has also set aside a specific portion of Cotino for ages 55 and up so you can even retire and live the fantasy while growing old(er). Cotino will also be open to the public through day passes. However, Disney has yet to announce any pricing for these passes or the accommodation. We have yet to hear when the construction of this community is set to start. Disney has partnered with DMB Development, a company that has previously built unique luxury communities across the US.
