The second official trailer for the upcoming MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness debuted yesterday during the Super Bowl, and it’s quite chaotic. There might also be potential spoilers in the trailer which is quite odd for Marvel, so we recommend treading lightly.
The Super Bowl trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness promises a fittingly strange dive into the chaos of the multiverse. Directed by Sam Raimi who previously made the original Spider-Man trilogy, the film follows Doctor Strange as he tackles the unknown.

As previously mentioned, the trailer may contain some potential spoilers, so take this as a warning before we discuss any other plot details shown in the trailer.
The big surprise that everyone will surely be talking about is the appearance of Patrick Stewart, who will reprise his role as Professor X from the X-Men films. Additionally, well-versed comic book fans have already speculated that this will also be an introduction to the Illuminati.
It’s possible that, following Disney’s acquisition of Fox and their various IPs including X-Men and Deadpool, we’ll see Marvel’s popular mutants slowly bleed into the current MCU timeline. It’s unknown how soon this will happen as plans for these characters appearing in the MCU aren’t entirely known yet, but we think this next Doctor Strange movie might be a big leap.
That said, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will evidently be a departure from the typical MCU superhero style and instead, seems to be more focused on horror elements. This is Raimi’s specialty too, who has his filmmaking roots in the genre such as the Evil Dead series and Drag Me To Hell.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases in cinemas on 6 May 2022.
