Dota 2 Chongqing Major – The Final Boss Awaits

It has been a wild ride through the group stages and then the playoffs so far in the Dota 2 Chongqing Major, with upsets galore in the previous day alone. Now, only six teams remain and five of them will fight it out in the lower bracket to face the final boss in the grand finals. Virtus.Pro is that final boss and rightly so, as the despatched with Secret in the winner’s bracket finals in style.

Secret looked unstoppable during the tournament and going up 1-0 early on against Virtus.Pro made me a believer. However, Virtus.Pro simply ploughed through Secret in the next two games, clinching the win and their spot in the grand finals, even killing Puppey’s team in the fountain for good measure. You simply can’t get a better final boss than Virtus.Pro in a grand final.

Yesterday we saw Fnatic break Team Liquid 2-0 with some fantastic performances from Abed and the legendary IceIceIce. Sure, Liquid might be without their star player Miracle- and I think that showed, especially in the second game when their stand-in Shadow did make a few errors. EG also managed to knock out Vici Gaming, which was a bit of a letdown for the home crowd.

Now, the stage is set for some fantastic matches today. Check out the match schedule in South African time and keep in mind that times might change depending on how quickly some matches end. The best thing you can do is to just keep watching the stream, which is embedded below for your convenience.

I, for one, can’t wait to see who faces Virtus.Pro in the grand finals of the Chongqing Major. It could very well be a rematch for Secret. However, all teams remaining can beat each other and it makes things really hard to predict. I’m going to stick to my prediction at the start of this tournament and say PSG.LGD will make it to the finals and beat the final boss, VP, in a 3-2 match.

Which team do you think will make it to the grand finals of the Chongqing Major to face Virtus.Pro? Let us know in the comment section below.
