It is the third day of the MDL Chengdu Major playoffs and while there are still some matches to go (at the time of writing) no more teams can get eliminated today. With two lower bracket matches completed, we now have the final eight Dota 2 esports teams that still have a shot at the lion’s share of the $1 million prize pool and a whopping 15,000 DPC points.

In the lower bracket on day 3 of the MDL Chengdu Major playoffs, we saw Invictus Gaming take down Fnatic in a great BO3 match. Invictus Gaming, in case you haven’t been following, was knocked down to the lower bracket by Evil Geniuses on Day 2. In the second lower bracket match of the day, Beastcoast made quick work of Fighting PandaS, who had a decent performance during the tournament considering the competition they were up against.
At the time of writing, the upper bracket matches have kicked off, with TNC Predator facing off against J.Storm in the upper bracket semi-finals. Later today, scheduled to start at 14:30 South African time (or earlier depending on how long the first upper bracket match takes) there’s a big match taking place that Dota 2 esports fans shouldn’t miss out on. Vici Gaming is taking on Evil Geniuses for a spot in the upper bracket finals of the MDL Chengdu Major playoffs and the winner will be guaranteed a top-three finish.
