Even though North American squad, Forward Gaming, managed to qualify for The International 2019, the organization recently ceased operations, which left the squad without an organization behind them. Forward Gaming qualified for the biggest esports tournament of the year via the NA qualifiers and since the announcement earlier this week that the organization has ceased operations, fans have been wondering which esports organization will pick up the team. That’s when Newbee stepped in.

This might come as a bit of a surprise, as I personally thought it would be a North American organization to snatch the team. However, it wasn’t as the Chinese juggernaut Newbee managed to snatch the Forward Gaming squad. The squad will play under the banner of the organization that won TI 2014, with the full squad as well as the coach and manager, will be playing under the Newbee banner.
The announcement was made in the early hours of the morning today on Newbee’s Facebook page, explaining that:
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”#33f9ff” class=”” size=”22″] Newbee and the players, coach and manager of former Forward Gaming have come to an agreement that the team will be representing Newbee, as well as NA DotA, in the upcoming TI9.
We would like to thank the players, coach and manager for putting their trust in Newbee and we wish them the best of luck. [/perfectpullquote]
The Newbee squad consists of the following players, manager and coach.
- Yawar ”YawaR” Hassan
- Quinn ”CCnC” Callahan
- Jingjun ”Sneyking” Wu
- Arif “MSS-” Anwar
- Johan “pieliedie” Åström
- Coach: Kurtis ”Aui_2000” Ling
- Manager: Jack ”KBBQ” Chen
The squad looked strong in the TI 2019 NA qualifiers and hopefully, they can make it far during TI 2019’s Main Event in August. Stay tuned for more The International 2019 coverage as per our detailed plan.
