Take-Two Interactive is the latest company to drop Dr Disrespect, a.k.a Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV over his recent sexting scandal on Twitch. The streamer has recently lost his brand deals with the likes of Turtle Beach as a result of the surrounding controversy. In addition, The San Francisco 49ers have also cut ties with the streamer and announced they will no longer be working with him going forward.
According to a new report, 2K Games will be patching out Dr Disrespect in the next update coming to NBA 2K24. The streamer doesn’t have much content in the game but his name appears in the MyCareer mode with a custom in-game jump shot and style which players can equip onto their character.
The update will only roll out when Season 9 kicks off in the coming weeks. Season 8 starts on 28 June. 2K Games has also confirmed that Dr Disrespect will no longer feature in upcoming games.
As for the San Francisco 49ers, the PR for the team released a statement following the sexting scandal. It reads:
“We take these developments seriously and will not be working with him going forward.”
At the moment a number of brands that have deals with Dr Disrespect haven’t commented on the matter. These include ASUS, Gillette and Mountain Dew.
If you missed it, over the weekend news broke that Dr Disrespect was originally perma-banned from Twitch in 2020 for sexting a minor back in 2017. It took a while to surface but up to now, the public had no clue why the streamer was banned. This past weekend it all came to light.
Dr Disrespect has since released a so-called apology confirming the texts leaned to inappropriate. However, he has also stated that he didn’t break the law and that everyone who has called him a predator is a “hater”.
