Dr Disrespect Breaks Character and Apologizes for E3 2019 Bathroom Incident

Guy Beahm, known more as Dr Disrespect, has broken his silence over the E3 2019 live stream incident that got him banned on Twitch and got his E3 pass revoked.

Dr Disrespect live streamed from a bathroom in the Los Angeles Convention Center which resulted in a multi-week ban on Twitch for violating their privacy agreement.

Guy tweeted from his dormant Twitter account which had not seen any activity since November 2017. The Twitlonger post explains what happened and why he decided to head into the bathroom during the expo.

We were sort of ‘all in’ with the Doc livestream experience and capturing the E3 event through the character.” [/perfectpullquote]

Guy goes onto explain he wanted to capture “an adventure”.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”#FF0404″ class=”” size=”21″]“We were so into the E3 IRL journey that we became a little blind in what’s ok and what’s not ok. We had no ill intentions and I feel that was pretty obvious if you watched the entire thing. We wanted to capture an adventure, unfortunately we took that adventure into the wrongs areas unaware of the legalities surrounding it. On behalf of the Dr Disrespect brand, I apologize for this.”[/perfectpullquote]

Dr Disrespect’s Twitch channel has since been reactivated after a two-week ban and he will soon return to full-time streaming but the incident has caused a major debate on whether Twitch’s punishment for their streaming community is enough and whether or not the brand does enough to moderate the behaviour of their streamers.

It is strange to see Dr Disrepect out of character but given the drama surrounding him, it seems the best way to solve the problem. You can read the full thread here.
