Over a decade after the original release of Sam Raimi’s critically acclaimed horror movie Drag Me to Hell, it looks like a potential sequel is currently being discussed by producers. Raimi provided an update to the sequel stating that his production company Ghost House Pictures is in the process of “trying of come up with a story” for the follow-up, though nothing is set in stone yet.
Speaking on a Reddit AMA, Raimi talked about the continuation of Drag Me to Hell, confirming that a story is in the works and he’s excited to see it. “[Ghost House production head] Romel Adam and [director of development] Jose Canas are trying to come up with a story that would work and I’m anxious to hear if they do!” said Raimi in a response to a question asking about a sequel.

This isn’t exactly confirmation that a sequel will happen but it’s given fans hope that we haven’t seen the last of that universe.
Drag Me to Hell followed the story of Christine Brown, a loan officer who is one day cursed by a mysterious woman after refusing to help her. A demonic presence is attached to Christine and she has three days to figure out how to get rid of the curse or she’ll be dragged into hell by demons.
Drag Me to Hell released in 2009 and received critical acclaim at the time, earning a 92% approval rating on the aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes. The horror movie was praised for Raimi’s sure-handed direction, strong scares and crazy antics that were compared to the Evil Dead trilogy. It has since become a cult classic in the horror community.
Raimi is currently producing a new Evil Dead movie, titled Evil Dead Rise, which is scheduled to release in cinemas on 19 April 2023. Check out the intense red band trailer.
