Summer Game Fest is just a couple of short days away and there’s plenty of anticipation leading into one of the biggest gaming events of June. Host Geoff Keighley recently set expectations by confirming that the show will largely focus on games releasing this year. A new report claims that BioWare will show off the very long-awaited Dragon Age: Dreadwolf at the event.
According to Insider Gaming, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will be shown this week, likely at Summer Game Fest. The RPG has been in development for quite some time now and we’re overdue on a release date and new information. Industry insider Jeff Grubb said back in March that EA was “confident” in a 2024 release window for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and with Summer Game Fest mostly focusing on games arriving this year, it’s a perfect fit.
Insider Gaming also stated that it’s possible Dragon Age: Dreadwolf might also show up at Sunday’s Xbox Games Showcase too. Either way, it seems like we’re finally getting a reveal for the game this week after years of waiting.
Developer BioWare has been quietly working on both the next Dragon Age as well as the next Mass Effect, though the latter is a lot further out from release. A report from last year claimed that the new Mass Effect might not release until 2029 or later, meaning it will likely skip this generation completely.
As for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, the story of the game is being kept under wraps for now. The game’s description reads:
“Enter the world of Thedas, a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities steeped in savage combat and secret magics. Now, the fate of this world teeters on a knife’s edge. Thedas needs a new leader — one they’ll never see coming. You’ll forge a courageous fellowship to challenge the gathering storm. Summer Game Fest kicks off on 7 June at 2PM PT / 11PM CAT.
