BioWare recently debuted extended gameplay footage of its upcoming fantasy RPG, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, giving fans a closer look at the tone and style of the game including its various characters. Since then, new details have emerged regarding the game’s character customisation, nudity and romance options.
As detailed by Twitter/X user Kala Elizabeth, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will have a number of character customisation options. These include different lighting options in the character creator to help with skin tones as well as non-binary/non-gendered pronouns. Body sizes can also be changed with dozens of hair options that react to physics. Starting out, players can choose between being a Human, Elf, Qunari or Dwarf.
User Shinobi602 also provided a very lengthy breakdown on Twitter/X of all the known Dragon Age: The Veilguard details so far. When creating your character, you can choose their backstory. There are up to six factions to choose from: Antivan Crows, Grey Wardens, Shadow Dragons, Veil Jumpers, Lords of Fortune and The Mourne Watch. Furthermore, each faction will offer three distinct buffs like having extra potions or being able to do extra damage against certain types of enemies, with the odd references in dialogue.
You’ll also be able to create your Inquisitor from Dragon Age: Inquisition in the character creator and “make a few key decisions that will impact how The Veilguard begins.”
As for romance, you’ll be able to romance any of the companions in the game. It’s not clear if it will follow Inquisition and lock certain character’s romances behind genders, though early impressoins suggest that all companion romances are on the table regardless of your character’s gender. If you don’t romance certain characters, they’ll then start to form romances with other characters. Each companion will have unique missions tied to them and it’s likely that you’ll need to complete them in order to progress their romance.
Finally, BioWare also confirmed that there will be nudity in the game and stated that things can get “a little spicy.”
Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches in fall 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
