BioWare has revealed a new gameplay deep dive video for its upcoming RPG, Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The footage mainly shows off some new locations for players to explore as well as a further dive into the combat and exploration, among other elements.
In the new preview from IGN, Dragon Age: The Veilguard game director Corrine Busche and BioWare’s creative director John Epler walk us through the gameplay deep dive for the RPG, offering looks at new areas as well as another look at the combat, which has evolved from the previous Dragon Age games to be much faster and weightier. The new gameplay follows another extensive walkthrough of the opening section of the game that BioWare released back in June.
Players will take on the role of Rook, a fully customisable protagonist. You can select from a variety of different races and combat classes, customise your appearance, choose your character’s backstory and shape the narrative around your decisions. As for the classes, you’ll be able to play as a Warrior, Mage or Rogue but all classes will have plenty of flexibility when it comes to your preferred playstyle and build.
In case you missed it, BioWare also recently provided details on exploration and companions as well as how relationships and romance will work in the game.
The official description for Dragon Age: The Veilguard reads:
“Enter the world of Thedas, a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities – steeped in conflict and secret magics. Now, a pair of corrupt ancient gods have broken free from centuries of darkness and are hellbent on destroying the world. Thedas needs someone they can count on. Rise as Rook, Dragon Age’s newest hero. Be who you want to be and play how you want to play as you fight to stop the gods from blighting the world. But you can’t do this alone – the odds are stacked against you. Lead a team of seven companions, each with their own rich story to discover and shape, and together you will become The Veilguard.”
Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches on 31 October 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Watch the 22-minute gameplay deep dive below:
