Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched late yesterday afternoon and fans have embraced the game regardless of all the so-called “controversy” around it. While many believed the game would struggle to gain traction, early signs show that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has reached the top 5 across all platforms with impressive Steam player counts and user reviews too.
Steam started off a bit slow last night but soon reached over 70,000 players during its peak at 20:00. This number marks the biggest EA single-player game launch on Steam and surpassed Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Steam user reviews were also in the 60% range but increased to 77% at the time of writing. So far, 80% of Steam user reviews have been positive regarding Dragon Age: The Veilguard while 19.8% have been negative. This is sitting at 2,864 positive reviews compared to 709 negative ones.
Steam currently says Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the best-selling game on the platform beating Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. It has also surpassed Monster Hunter Wilds pre-orders in sales compared to last week.
On other platforms, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is also tracking well. In South Africa, the game is 7th on the PlayStation Store’s top 10 games list. It is also the second best-selling game on PS5 under Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This chart measures recent releases.
Xbox doesn’t show much. The Xbox Store reveals that Black Ops 6 Vault Edition Upgrade is the top seller. Given the Xbox Game Pass launch, this was expected. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is nowhere to be seen on the list. I am not sure if the chart hasn’t been updated yet or if users aren’t playing it on Xbox. We’ll update this post later today if things change.
Regardless, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has only been out for a few hours and the game is doing well. We’ll have to see if players grow this weekend as users find more time to jump into the game.
