BioWare recently debuted extended gameplay for its upcoming fantasy RPG, Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The gameplay segment, which runs for a little under half an hour, walks players through the opening sections of the game. First impressions seem largely positive online, especially following the Xbox Games Showcase reveal trailer earlier this week which was met with a more divisive reception.
The new extended gameplay for Dragon Age: The Veilguard picks up after the events of Inquisition. We’ll once again be able to play as a custom character named Rook and likely choose from a variety of classes, each with their own unique abilities and playstyles. For this gameplay presentation, we got a Level 1 Rogue with the Shadow Dragons backstory.
Most of the gameplay follows Rook as he encounters various companions in the early game who are all in pursuit of Solas, the main antagonist of the game. The visuals look particularly fantastic, this time presented in a slightly less realistic but nonetheless convincing art style and tone. The gorgeous visuals and environments also seem to be doing a lot of the heavy-lifting here, which is expected of BioWare at this point.
The official synopsis for Dragon Age: The Veilguard reads:
“Enter the world of Thedas, a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities steeped in savage combat and secret magics. Now, the fate of this world teeters on a knife’s edge. Thedas needs a new leader — one they’ll never see coming. You’ll forge a courageous fellowship to challenge the gathering storm. Friendship, drama, and romance will abound as you bring striking individuals together into an extraordinary team. Become the leader and light the beacon of hope in their darkest moments.”
Dragon Age: The Veilguard didn’t get a release date following the recent gameplay presentation but it is coming this fall 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Watch the full gameplay below:
