BioWare is teasing the possibility of its upcoming RPG, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, featuring full nudity. The studio recently called it a “mature RPG” but didn’t offer any confirmation about how far nudity will go in the game.
A recent article from Game Informer revealed that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will feature topless nudity during the character creation of the player protagonist, Rook. Game director Corrine Busche teased that topless nudity could also carry over to the rest of the game as players will have the opportunity to romance and seduce companions. When pressed about the game having full nudity including “bottomless nudity”, Busche simply replied “this is a mature RPG”, urging fans to discover it for themselves.
Comparisons are already being made to last year’s Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios, which obviously wasn’t shy about featuring full nudity on literally all of its characters including the player character, Tav. Perhaps the award-winning RPG allowed BioWare to push the envelope a bit when it comes to nudity in Dragon Age: The Veilguard – something that was never on full display (no pun intended) in past Dragon Age games.
Sex and nudity isn’t a new concept in the gaming world. In fact, BioWare already has plenty of experience in that field from the Mass Effect games which featured sex and cleverly-framed nudity that never really went full commando. Baldur’s Gate 3 was a bit of a turning point, though – fans lovingly called it the horniest game of 2023 – so it makes sense that Dragon Age: The Veilguard would want to double down on that level of expression too.
In case you missed it, BioWare also went into detail about how romance and relationships will work in the game, though it will also come with plenty of gameplay benefits as well.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches in fall 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
