Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero (or stylised as Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO), the upcoming fighting game from Bandai Namco Entertainment, has been confirmed to feature over 180 characters in the game’s roster. This makes it possibly the largest roster of any Dragon Ball game to date, beating out Budokai Tenkaichi 2‘s 129 playable characters (135 if you count the Japanese and PAL Wii versions).
As reported by X account DbsHype, the retail cases for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero were shown at EB Games. The back of the case reveals that the game will feature over 180 characters, presumably from across Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super. The case also mentions that the game will support offline multiplayer up to two people and online multiplayer for up to eight players. This is important as an older report claimed that the game would launch without local co-op – something that has probably been fixed since then.
Over 180 characters is quite significant as it means that Bandai Namco put a lot of effort in including as many characters from the manga and anime as possible. Of course, you also have to account for the fact that fighters like Goku and Vegeta will have several variations. Even with that factored in, players can probably expect to find a massive list of unexpected characters from the series, some of whom might not have been featured in a Dragon Ball game before.
