Dragon Ball The Breakers Asymmetrical Multiplayer Online Dead By Daylight

Dragon Ball: The Breakers is an Asymmetrical Survival Game

Bandai Namco has announced a new Dragon Ball game, and it’s not what you think it is. Harnessing their inner Dead By Daylight, Dragon Ball: The Breakers will be an online asymmetrical multiplayer survival game where one player assumes the role of Cell, Frieza or Buu while seven other players (or “survivors”) have to outwit them and survive. Talk about ambitious ideas.

In Dragon Ball: The Breakers, one player takes the role of a Raider – either Cell, Frieza or Buu – while seven other players work together to survive their onslaught, patiently waiting to escape the temporal anomaly they’re stuck in. It’s a concept that has been done to death before with Dead By Daylight and Friday The 13th, among others, but to see it with a Dragon Ball theme is quite the spectacle.

Apart from trying to run and hide, players can work together in co-op to build skill trees, craft items like grappling hooks and weapons, or simply hop into a vehicle to escape faster via a Super Time machine. Survivors can choose to fight back against the Raiders granted they have the right skills, weapons and items, but there are moments where stealth is a necessity at first. Dragon Ball: The Breakers will seemingly tie into the Dragon Ball Xenoverse universe, and will have some sort of tie-in with Xenoverse 2 save data.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers is currently planned to launch on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC sometime in 2022, and will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S (though there don’t seem to be any specific versions for them yet). There will be a closed beta test coming to PC, though more details should arrive soon.
