A recent datamine into Dragon’s Dogma 2, the latest open-world fantasy RPG from developer Capcom, has unearthed possible unannounced DLC. The game launched earlier this year to positive reviews with many praising its unique mechanics, visuals and wealth of content. It seems like even more content might be on the way.
As reported on the Dragon’s Dogma subreddit, an unknown user datamined the pre-release build of Dragon’s Dogma 2 that didn’t have Denuvo restrictions. The text mentions a boss rush mode, a multiplayer mode and something called ‘Tower of the New Moon.’ Fans speculate that this is alluding to potential DLC for the RPG that hasn’t been announced yet by Capcom. Others believe that it’s just leftover, unused files from the game’s development that were either changed or cut at the last minute, though the text wasn’t removed on time.
There’s been no indication that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be getting DLC. Capcom has done a good job providing updates to the game over the last few months but these only fixed quest bugs, added the new Casual mode or capped the game at 30FPS on consoles (it launched with an uncapped frame rate on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, leading to inconsistent results).
However, there’s always a chance that the sequel will receive downloadable content in the future. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a large-scale RPG with a lot of content already crammed into it and Capcom is no stranger to providing enormous expansions for its acclaimed RPGs (see Monster Hunter World: Iceborne).
In related news, Capcom released a substantial update for the game back in April that reduced the frequency in which Pawns or other NPCs got inflicted with Dragonsplague, a disease that, when left unchecked, could permanently kill off characters in the story. After fans voiced their frustrations over the mechanic, Capcom made it so that Dragonsplague is less of an issue to constantly worry about now.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
