Dragon’s Dogma 2, the upcoming open-world RPG from Capcom, reportedly runs at 30FPS on consoles. Capcom has yet to confirm if the game will contain performance and quality modes, though early rumours claim that it doesn’t feature a 60FPS option which is strange for a AAA game in this day and age.
The report originates from PCFocus which picked up the rumour from an unnamed Japanese insider, claiming that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will run at 30FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S (the PC version likely won’t be impacted by that limitation). Considering that the game is out in less than two months, it’s strange that Capcom hasn’t said anything regarding the game’s performance on current-gen consoles. We recommend taking this with a pinch of salt for now.

If Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches without 60FPS on consoles, it might sting especially since it will be Capcom’s first $70 game. We’ll just have to wait and see if we get good performance/quality details before launch.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno recently detailed how fast travel will work in the upcoming RPG. Essentially, fast travel will be somewhat limited in the game with only two options: fast travel by map which will cost hefty in-game currency or travel by Oxcart which risks being interrupted by a world event. Itsuno called games that overly rely on fast travel “boring” if the world is not fun to explore.
The game’s description provided by Steam reads:
“Set forth on your grand adventure, Arisen! Dragon’s Dogma is a single player, narrative driven action-RPG series that challenges the players to choose their own experience – from the appearance of their Arisen, their vocation, their party, how to approach different situations and more. Now, in this long-awaited sequel, the deep, explorable fantasy world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 awaits. On your journey, you’ll be joined by Pawns, mysterious otherworldly beings, in an adventure so unique you will feel as if accompanied by other players while on your own adventure.”
Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches on 22 March 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
