Dune Part Two Production Release Date November 2023

Dune 3 Coming in 2026, Next MonsterVerse Movie Out in 2027

Warner Bros and Legendary Entertainment have apparently pinned release dates for both Dune 3 and the next movie in the MonsterVerse. According to the new report, Dune 3 is set to release sometime in December 2026 while the next MonsterVerse movie, which won’t be directed by series regular Adam Wingard, also has a date of 26 March 2027.

The report comes from Deadline which claims that Warner Bros and Legendary Entertainment are looking at a December 2026 release for Dune 3. Director Denis Villeneuve, who directed the first two Dune movies, will return for the third installment, though he confirmed that it will be his last Dune movie. It’s largely believed that the third movie will adapt the book Dune Messiah, which serves as a “sequel” to the original book.

As for the next MonsterVerse movie, not much is actually known about it at this point in time. Adam Wingard, who directed both 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong and this year’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, previously revealed that he will not return to direct the next movie. Warner Bros will likely search for a new director to pick up the franchise. Gareth Edwards, the director of 2014’s Godzilla that kicked off the MonsterVerse, is currently working on the next Jurassic World movie with actress Scarlett Johansson, so he’s out of the question for now.

Dune: Part Two released in cinemas earlier this year to glowing reviews, raking in a decent chunk of change at the worldwide box office. According to Box Office Mojo, it’s one of the highest-grossing movies of 2024, currently sitting at $711 million earned from global ticket sales. The movie starred Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem.

The plot description reads:

“Paul Atreides unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”
