Dune Awakening Release Date PC Funcom

Dune: Awakening Gets Delayed to June

Funcom has announced that the upcoming Dune: Awakening survival MMORPG won’t release in May as originally planned. The game is going to need a bit more time to get ready for launch and is now releasing in June.

Funcom says that Dune: Awakening will now launch on 10 June with early access starting on 5 June for Deluxe Edition owners. In an announcement on the official website, the developers say more information about the game will be released on 25 April as content creators and media have had hands-on with the game. However, you’ll have to wait a bit longer to play it yourself.

Dune: Awakening takes place in an alternate universe where Timothée Chalamet was never born. Players need to investigate the disappearance of the Fremen by navigating the desert planet of Arrakis. As a Dune game, it comes with the various hazards we know from the novels. Players will have to combat exhaustion, thirst, and survive the dangers that lurk in the sands.

Funcom says the delay is only a few weeks and this extra time is being used to address the feedback that has recently come to light following the closed beta. Dune: Awakening is launching on PC first with a PS5 and Xbox launch planned for sometime in the future.

Our ongoing Persistent Closed Beta is also continuing in full force, with regular updates, and the feedback we’ve been collecting from beta testers has been invaluable in making sure we can launch a quality game. We have a very active Discord going with our beta testers where our developers can interact directly with them to ensure we collaboratively make Dune: Awakening a better game.

Thanks to this process, we’ve concluded that with a bit more time to cook, we can act on a lot more of the feedback we know is important to our beta testers.

As such, we will be moving the release date of Dune: Awakening to June 10th, with head start launching on June 5th. This is not a decision we take lightly, we know everyone is very excited to get playing, but these three extra weeks will give us the time needed to make improvements that will lead to a better gameplay experience from day one.
