Dune Awakening Release Date PC Funcom

Dune: Awakening Release Date Announced For PC

The release date for Dune: Awakening, the survival MMO based on the popular Dune universe created by author Franerbert,k H has been announced – at least for PC, costing $49,99 when it launches. A console release date will follow at a later date.

Developer Funcom has announced that Dune: Awakening will be available on 20 May 2025 for PC. A console version is planned but we’ll only hear about it later. To celebrate the game’s launch and release date announcement, Funcom has given Steam users a free character creator and benchmark, letting players test out their rigs before the game’s launch while also designing their custom characters ahead of time.

The game’s description reads:

“Dune: Awakening is the most ambitious survival game ever made, set on the most dangerous planet in the universe, Arrakis. Whether a Dune fan or not, the vast world will immerse you in an epic experience that draws from both Frank Herbert’s sci-fi masterpiece and Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster movies.”

In Dune: Awakening, players will explore the sandy, dangerous deserts of Arrakis and either side with House Atreides or House Harkonnen, starting off as a mere prisoner who has to work their way up the ranks. It’s clear that the game is going for a similar scale and even visual presentation as Denis Villeneuve’s excellent Dune movies, with some creative liberties taken to make the game world feel more immersive.

In related news, Warner Bros. has set a 2026 release for the third Dune movie, Dune: Messiah, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve. It’s expected to be the final film from the director, concluding the ongoing story of Paul Atreides’ rise. A spin-off TV series, Dune: Prophecy, was released last year to mixed reviews.
