Techland has announced Dying Light: The Beast. While at first rumours pointed to a DLC for Dying Light 2 after the trademark was filed last week, it seems The Beast is an entirely new game.
According to Techland, Dying Light: The Beast is a standalone game set in a new area and offers 20 hours of gameplay. So think of it as a smaller chapter in the series. It is canon to the existing story so fans have that to look forward to.
The trailer reveals that players take on the role of Kyle Crane who has come into contact with new “beastly” powers. Crane was experimented on and as a result, he is now “The Beast”.
Hunt your captors through the new setting of Castor Woods, all while helping those in need. As you find out more details of what’s been going on here, you begin to realize there’s a lot more at stake than getting revenge…
Dying Light: The Beast is expected to launch in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Sadly, Techland has also revealed that the DLC which was originally planned for Dying Light 2, has been cancelled and instead turned into this standalone game.
In the FAQ, the studio says owners of the Dying Light 2: Ultimate Edition will get The Beast at no additional cost. That’s because the original game was planned to have two DLC packs.
