Techland has filed an interesting new trademark for Dying Light: The Beast. The developer seemingly filed the trademark earlier this week on 12 August under a gaming license. The trademark also came with the same logo and font as Techland’s other filed trademarks.
At the moment it is too early to tell what this could be. I would like to say Dying Light: The Beast might be a new game but it also might simply be DLC at this point. Techland currently has a number of similar trademarks filed in the same manner.
The previous DLC for Dying Light 2 called Bad Blood was also filed just a few months before it was launched. So right now, there’s a high chance this “The Beast” trademark is just DLC for the game.
To add, Techland has openly stated that the studio wants to support Dying Light 2 as much as the first game. This means adding new content to the experience and seasonal events. As a result, the studio will unlikely work on a sequel anytime soon.
We don’t know when Techland will announce this Dying Light 2: The Beast DLC but with Gamescom kicking off next week, we might see a reveal then. As a big Dying Light 2 fan, the game is in desperate need of new content. While the timed events have been fun, there’s no actual new story content or modes to enjoy.
If anything, the events have just been a way for Techland to sell skin packs and DLC in the form of cosmetics. It would be great to have some new story content and perhaps a new region to explore.
