EA Games has opened up sign-ups for the new Battlefield Labs community testing program. Alongside the program, we also got a very short sneak peek at the next Battlefield game – about 10 seconds of a sneak peek, to be exact.
EA says Battlefield Labs is a place where the studio can test concepts and experiences with players. This whole program has been developed for players to help shape the future of Battlefield.
“This is an unprecedented moment for Battlefield. We will start by testing the pillars of play, like core combat and destruction. Then transition to balance and feedback for our weapons, vehicles and gadgets, ultimately leading to where all these pieces come together in our maps, modes, and squad play. And yes, we will be testing Conquest and Breakthrough, the heart and soul of our all-out warfare experience, but BF Labs will also be a place to explore new ideas and fine-tune and improve Battlefield pillars like our class system (Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon) to create deeper more strategic play.”
EA says players can no longer register for the program with an opportunity to participate in upcoming tests. The tests will be limited to Europe and North America at first. Over time, EA plans to extend the program to other regions. However, you can sign up for the program in the meantime while we wait for EA to roll it out in more regions.
I tried to join the queue. At the time of writing, there were 286,025 people ahead of me. It will likely take a few hours for this line to drop. Once you get to the front of the line, you then have 15 minutes on the site to complete your registration.
As for the next Battlefield game, EA says four studios are currently working on the new game. These studios are being referred to as “Battlefield Studios”. The goal is to build a connected universe set in the modern day.
The developer insight video gives us a closer look at how EA is building the new game. If you want to watch the teaser gameplay, you can fast forward to 4:40 and watch it frame by frame – looks pretty awesome. You can visit this link here to sign up for the testing program.
