In roughly two years, we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Command & Conquer franchise. I can still remember playing the first Command & Conquer and my personal favourite is still the awesome Tiberian Wars (don’t just me). However, games in the franchise haven’t always lived up to the expectations of fans. With rosed-coloured glasses firmly on, I am extremely excited to report that EA is teasing Command & Conquer Remasters.
EA’s producer Jim Vessella, who worked on the likes of Tiberian Wars, Red Alert 3 and more took to the C&C subreddit to talk to fans of the RTS franchise. Jim Vessella mentioned that they heard fan feedback about the recently announced mobile game entitled Rivals. Then, mentioned that they are exploring ideas about remastering the classic games.
This news will surely excite old-school fans of the franchise and I, for one, simply can’t wait. Jim Vessella revealed on Reddit that:
Following the reveal of Rivals, we heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community also wants to see the franchise return to PC. And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn’t agree more. With that in mind we’ve been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary.
EA will be talking to fans of the franchise in a “variety of ways” over the next few weeks and hopefully, they will do the franchise justice. One fan instantly pleaded for EA not to add any microtransactions and honestly, that was one of my concerns when I first saw the Reddit post as well.
Jim Vassella replied, stating that: “We will not be adding any microtransactions to a C&C Remaster”.
That’s probably the best news (apart from the actual tease) that EA could have given about the Command & Conquer Remasters.
