EA Wants to Sell 6 Million Copies of Anthem in 6 Weeks

EA is no doubt banking on the success of BioWare’s upcoming RPG shooter and the proof is in the numbers. During a call with investors, EA forecasted to sell between five to six million copies of the game by the end of March 2019.

This gives EA just six weeks to sell six million copies and for those bad at maths, that is a million a week. The reason behind this forecast is due to EA’s end of the fiscal year which closed on 31 March 2019. EA would love to have those numbers nailed down before that happens.

EA’s Andrew Wilson said that the demo was a massive success and quoted that people said it was unlike any other game they have ever played.

‘We think there is a great opportunity not just this year for Anthem, but that should sell well for a long period of time as we add more content through the live service plan.

We know the two demo weekends were a success as EA boasted 40 million hours of play time throughout the weekend and the response from gamers was “overwhelmingly positive”. Of course, the true experience lies in the final release and the end-game experience. Similar titles like Destiny had the same response from players but tanked a few weeks after launch due to lack of content.

BioWare has put a large emphasis on the end-game experience detailing content releasing across “acts” such as new events, quality of life changes, new strongholds and much, much more.
