Elden Ring Character Creator Leaked via Closed Network Test

The character creator options for From Software and George R.R. Martin’s upcoming open-world action-RPG Elden Ring has leaked thanks to a recent closed network test. The footage provided by ER-SA shows the various options players will have in making their own unique characters, from hairstyles and facial presets to more, though much of it was inaccessible.

ER-SA, who was also responsible for leaking some of the recent gameplay footage showing the interior and exterior locations of Stormveil Castle, has now posted the character creator for Elden Ring. It’s worth noting that since this was a closed network test, players didn’t have all the options available to them as they had to simply choose from five preset characters, but the menu seems to be fully functional.

Since this is essentially an incomplete version of Elden Ring‘s character creator, with most options being blanked out and inaccessible, it’s a good indicator for what we can expect in the final product. More importantly, it shows the graphical fidelity of how far From Software has come with their character editor since Dark Souls – which was admittedly wonky and described as “potato people”.

It’s hard to really grasp just how extensive the character creation process will be for Elden Ring, though it seemed like Bluepoint set a pretty high bar thanks to their own excellent, in-depth character creator for the Demon’s Souls remake. Judging by this leaked footage, though, Elden Ring will still contain plenty of customization options for players looking to make their ideal Tarnished.

Elden Ring previously received a network test for selected players last year, though the option to change your character’s appearance was only relegated to a handful of presets that the game assigned to each class. The more recent closed network test seemed to have allowed for greater freedom in creating a character since it gave players access to the customization menu, but things could very well change or be tweaked before launch.

Elden Ring launches on 25 February 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
