Elden Ring ‘Definitive Edition’ in Development For Switch 2 – Report

A new rumour suggests that a ‘Definitive Edition’ of Elden Ring is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2. The leak claims that it’s being ported by Virtuos, the same studio behind the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake, with a release planned for late 2025. Virtuos also previously worked on the Switch port for Dark Souls Remastered.

According to leaker Nash Weedle, From Software is working with Virtuos on a Switch 2 port of Elden Ring called the ‘Definitive Edition’, which presumably packages the base game with the expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree. The rumour was corroborated by Nintendo leaker Necro Felipe, who claimed to have heard similar plans back in March.

We strongly recommend taking this rumour with a grain of salt as both sources, at least according to the community, don’t have the best track record of accurate industry leaks. Many supposed “leaks” from Necro Felipe also never came to fruition.

However, it seems rather obvious that an Elden Ring port would happen for Nintendo’s new, untitled console. Early reports stated that it would have decently powerful specs, enough to handle something like Elden Ring. Additionally, Bandai Namco and Nintendo have a good working relationship so it would make sense to bring one of the most critically acclaimed games of the past decade to Nintendo’s systems for more players to enjoy.

It seems like a full reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 could be right around the corner. Recently, the trailer for Yooka-Replaylee simply featured a Nintendo logo where the Switch logo would be (next to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S logos), suggesting that the game will also be heading to the new console. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens this week.
