The highly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring is still without a release date, though according to a previous report from leaker Ziostorm, it’s seemingly set for 5 February 2024. However, a new listing from a retailer might’ve accidentally corroborated the February release date leak along with mentions of another big expansion for the game possibly targeting 2025.
The leak originates from Thrustmaster (via Reddit), which recently uploaded alleged details on the Elden Ring expansion. Thrustmaster is apparently releasing new themed controllers to “sync with new Shadow of the Erdtree expansion release” in February 2024. The page goes on to mention that a second wave of controllers would be released in 2025 to coincide with a “major keybeat or new game expansion”, suggesting that there could be more than one expansion currently planned for Elden Ring beyond Shadow of the Erdtree.

At the moment, Shadow of the Erdtree is the only known expansion for Elden Ring though it’s possible that developer From Software might have a lot more content planned for its future. In the studio’s past cases, notably the Dark Souls sequels, both Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III received multiple expansions post-launch, though it was never spaced 3-4 years apart as all of those DLC released within 12-18 month windows.
Thrustmaster’s listing, which has since been delisted, also mentioned that it could be a “major keybeat” for Elden Ring, which could take the form of multiple things. Either it could be a smaller but still significant update or a “Game of the Year” edition that bundles both the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree, which honestly makes more sense.
The Elden Ring SteamDB was updated ahead of The Game Awards earlier this month and while it was sadly a no-show at Keighley’s end-of-year event, it still gives the February 2024 release date leaks a bit more credibility.
Elden Ring is currently available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
