A Song of Ice & Fire author George R.R. Martin, who helped write the worldbuilding and lore of From Software’s Elden Ring, has hinted at a potential movie or TV show adaptation of the beloved fantasy RPG. We’ve heard nothing official yet from Bandai Namco Entertainment but Martin seems to know some information that could be bringing Elden Ring to our screens in another medium altogether.
In a recent post on his official blog, George R.R. Martin gave a rather strange statement regarding a potential movie or TV show adaptation of Elden Ring. “Oh, and about those rumours you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on Elden Ring… I have nothing to say. Not a word, nope, not a thing. I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumour?” he wrote.
The wording of Martin’s response is very strange, seemingly hinting that an Elden Ring movie or TV project is indeed in the works and he’s playing coy about it. That wouldn’t come as a surprise considering that the game has now sold over 25 million units worldwide with its latest expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, also selling over 5 million copies in its first week of release.

In related news, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring garnered quite a bit of controversy at launch with many reviewing the expansion low on Steam due to its challenging difficulty as well as performance issues on PC. However, the reviews are back up to Mostly Positive on Valve’s platform after From Software released a patch that made the game slightly easier.
