Elden Ring New Game+ Confirmed and Detailed by From Software

Elden Ring will have a new game plus, From Software confirmed, and it will be structurally similar to past titles like Dark Souls and Bloodborne. New Game+ will consist of players battling against powered-up enemies, being able to carry over their own characters to the next playthrough too.

Speaking during the Taipei Game Show presentation, Elden Ring producer Yasuhiro Kitao detailed how New Game+ will work in the action-RPG. Players will be able to carry their previous characters over to the next playthrough, though enemies will be tougher. However, since this is an open-world, exploration is key, and From Software doesn’t expect some players to clear the map in their first playthrough.

Kitao’s full statement on Elden Ring‘s New Game+ reads:

“After clearing the game the first time, you can carry across your character data and play the game again, against powered-up enemies. This has always been a feature of our games …

In fact, with the world being so vast, the game is designed so that it can be cleared without necessarily experiencing everything. Some players will prefer to try and explore the entire map the first time, while others will leave some areas for exploration in second or subsequent cycles.”

Kitao is careful with his wording on the game being designed so “that it can be cleared without experiencing everything”, so it’s possible that some New Game+ content will be new to the player apart from just your standard buffed enemies.

The Lands Between is a massive open-world ready to be explored, and there might be some players who will miss dungeons and various open-world moments that can be experienced thanks to New Game+.

Elden Ring is an upcoming open-world dark fantasy ARPG from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice developer From Software. The game won several Most Anticipated Game awards, and remains at the top of the list for many as the most anticipated game of 2022.

Players won’t have to wait very long, it seems, as the game is around the corner from release.

Elden Ring releases on 25 February 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
