Elden Ring Nightreign launched last week to massive success, gathering over 300K players on Steam with a confirmed 2 million copies sold on its first day. Despite developer From Software’s best efforts to bolster the servers for the rush of players, it seems like matchmaking issues were widespread throughout the launch weekend. Many users took to social media to voice their concerns and frustrations. From Software has now acknowledged the game’s matchmaking issues and has a possible workaround until it provides the necessary fixes.
As reported by Eurogamer, many Elden Ring Nightreign players are struggling to find second or third players to complete the team due to ongoing matchmaking problems. In response to the growing frustration, From Software recommended players “restart the matchmaking process” if they’re struggling to find a co-op buddy.
“Nightfarers. If you encounter issues finding other players when launching an expedition in Elden Ring Nightreign, please try restarting the matchmaking process,” reads the message from From Software. “Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
That only seemed to do the trick for some players but not everyone was as lucky. From Software acknowledged the matchmaking issues and provided a workaround to try and help players. On social media, the studio’s account posted:
“If you have difficulty matchmaking on PS4 & PS5, please check your NAT type. NAT type 3 may affect matchmaking on PSN. Check your NAT type with the following steps: Home > Settings > Network > Connection Status > Check Connection Status. Thank you for your support.”
Just like restarting matchmaking, changing the NAT type doesn’t seem to be working for everyone either. However, it’s good to know that From Software is aware of these problems and taking steps to try and assist struggling players. Time will tell if the developer makes more robust tweaks and fixes to the problems via patches and updates.
Elden Ring Nightreign is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. If you’re just jumping in, check out our breakdown of all eight available Nightfarers (classes) in the game.
