From Software has released new gameplay for its upcoming co-op survival game, Elden Ring Nightreign, a spin-off of the mainline Elden Ring game. This time, the company focused on the new archer archetype called Ironeye, a ranged Nightfarer that wields a bow and can deal great damage from a distance.
If the archers from Anor Londo were your worst nightmare, then the Ironeye Nightfarer might be the class for you. Utilising a bow, the ranged archetype can deal damage from a safe distance while coming equipped with mostly Dexterity-based weapons and attacks. They make for excellent long-range support in a team, not only dealing damage at range but also being able to revive downed allies without needing to get close to them.
Picking the Ironeye won’t necessarily limit you to the kind of new gear you can acquire while running around Limveld, though. Just because they use a bow, it doesn’t mean you’ll only get bow gear as the archetype, like other classes in the game, is flexible enough to support multiple types of playstyles and weapons. That said, archery has gotten a big facelift in Elden Ring Nightreign from the base game, now making them completely viable and effective weapons for good damage output.
The official description for Elden Ring Nightreign reads:
“Elden Ring Nightreign is a standalone adventure within the Elden Ring universe, crafted to offer players a new gaming experience by reimagining the game’s core design. Join forces with other players to take on the creeping night and the dangers within featuring 3-player co-op. Take command of uniquely skilled heroes, each possessing their own abilities and distinct flair. While individually formidable, their skills create powerful synergies when they unite as a team.”
Elden Ring Nightreign launches on 30 May 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Make sure you check out our pre-order guide as well. For those in South Africa, we’ve also got a pre-order guide for you.
