From Software plans to support Elden Ring Nightreign as a live-service type game. According to the official Steam page, the game is expected to get additional DLC in the form of “additional characters and bosses”.
The description where this was mentioned has since been removed from Steam. So perhaps From Software updated this by accident before the news was meant to be out in the wild. However, it makes sense that the game would get DLC given its online-only, co-op focus.
So far, Elden Ring Nightreign seems to be a love letter from From Software itself featuring various enemies and Easter eggs from Elden Ring and outside of Elden Ring. For example, the latest network test revealed that Elden Ring Nightreign included the Centipede Demon, a boss from the original Dark Souls game.
There’s even a hint of Bloodborne in Elden Ring Nightreign as the Duchess’ move set is very much in line with that of the Hunter in the game.
From Software will likely add new Wayfarers to Elden Ring Nightreign which will come in the form of new characters with new play styles and opportunities to approach each run of the game in a new way. Bosses will also bring some added content to the experience. I just hope we see even more older bosses from previous games.
Elden Ring Nightreign is expected to launch on 30 May. We have put together a full pre-order guide on the upcoming co-op ARPG here. It includes all the various editions coming your way, including the fancy collector’s edition.
