UPDATE 2
Elden Ring is now available in South Africa. We have been notified that retailers have received stock and are allowed to sell it to customers.
UPDATE 1
Prima Interactive has confirmed the Elden Ring delay in South Africa. The game is now expected to launch on 4 March 2022. The official street date has changed in South Africa.
Original article follows
Elden Ring is on a fast track to suffering a delay in South Africa. Due to the horrific Storm Eunice which has battered Western Europe over the past weekend, flights containing the Elden Ring stock were grounded and sadly didn’t take off in time to meet this week’s global launch.
Unfortunately, these flight delays have caused logistic issues across the board meaning the stock will now land in South Africa later than expected, get to the warehouse later and in turn, arrive at retail later than the game’s release date.

Local distributor Prima Interactive is doing everything in its power to get the stock moving faster given the circumstances. Elden Ring is set to launch this Friday, 25 February so if the delay does happen, you can expect the launch to take place sometime early next week. At the moment, the delay affects all retail stock of Elden Ring including the Collector’s Edition and Launch Day Edition.
Local retailers should be in contact with customers soon regarding the delay. They will also keep you updated on the launch of the game and whether or not your store will get stock by Friday. Given past delays, there’s a high chance that should Elden Ring arrive by Friday, outlying regions might not get their allocation until next week while central areas will receive their copies. Once Prima Interactive confirmed the exact ETA for the delay, we will share more information.
Elden Ring marks the second large-scale video game delay in South Africa. Earlier this month, Horizon Forbidden West also suffered a serious delay with its Regalla and Collector’s Editions. Sony also cut the Special Edition stock resulting in cancelled pre-orders. Let’s hope Elden Ring arrives in time because I can’t take any more heartbreak this month.
