An Elden Ring player has shared information related to an upcoming lawsuit against From Software over what he believes is an “overly difficult and inaccessible game”. According to the report, the player believes that Elden Ring hides the majority of the game behind challenging gameplay preventing players from experiencing what they pay for.
In addition, the player believes that From Software intentionally cuts content out of Elden Ring which is already in the game. This content is found by data miners and he believes that players should be entitled to this content given that they paid for the game.
The player references not only Elden Ring but also Bloodborne in this regard. He says that game director Hidetaka Miyazaki cut a large chunk of Bloodborne out of the game. This was revealed in an interview where Miyazaki discussed players transforming into a beast. The player believes that this transformation feature is in Bloodborne but wasn’t ever added to the playable game.
The big focus for this lawsuit is the inaccessible content, however. The player argues that half of From Software’s games aren’t experienced due to the challenging gameplay that prevents players from progressing through the game.
The player has also called out other developers who cater to “crazy people” by making challenging games that most players can’t experience. He says only half the game is often available at launch and most of it is too hard to access for even “its most dedicated fans”.
“September 25th 2024 is when Bandai Namco games enters court for a hearing in my “Elden Ring” lawsuit that claims we have only played HALF of FROM SOFTWARE’s games and a whole new game is hidden inside, and that it’s too hard to access for even its most dedicated fans. In less than two months, you will be forced to realize game devs cater to crazy people because they have courage that you don’t, to explore the unknown world. You will be forced to realize hackers have been lying to you telling you content is cut, when its actually just undiscovered.”
From Software has not commented on the lawsuit. The plaintiff apparently has a court date of 24 September. We’ll have to see how this all plays out.
